What are the best places to fish from land to Tampa FL?

I am a student going to USF in Tampa. I like fish, but do not know how or where, in Tampa. What are some of the best ribs or thrown in the Tampa area? What is there? What bait to use and where? What direction and how to build a good platform?

As Shrimpboat captain said, Fort DeSoto Park. But in his way is a couple of paths that are very good too. Right next to each side of Pinellas Bayway (Highway 679) is very good apartments. A spot is actually the north side of the drawbridge in Tierra Verde. Right now there are plenty redfish and even grayer. Flounder are usually caught in the place of sand in the lease and in deep water. Also see the Skyway fishing pier Bridge. It's a little slow, but now mackerel and tuna should start to recover in the coming months.
